Husband arrested following brawl with wife

A night of heavy drinking led to a blow to the face using a table fan.

Bloomington resident Samuel Dale, 56, and his wife awoke early Monday and began to argue.

The argument became physical when Dale shoved his wife, picked her up and wrapped his hands around her neck, choking her, Bloomington Police Department Lt. Bill Parker said.

Dale faces preliminary charges of domestic assault and strangulation, both Class D felonies.

When Bloomington police arrived at the scene at about 12:23 a.m. at the 500 block of Hays Court, both Dale and his wife were battered and had bruises on their faces. Blood ran down Dale’s face and along the woman’s torso, Parker said. Dale was allegedly struck with a table fan.

At the time of the altercation, the couple’s grown daughter and three grandchildren, ages 10, 4 and 6, were inside the residence. The 10-year-old reported hearing screams and the sound of someone falling down the stairs, Parker said.
