A pregnant woman, 22, reported to police she was strangled in front of her two-year-old child.
The woman told Bloomington police she and the man she lives with began to argue in a bedroom when he pushed her, causing her to fall on the bed, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Scott Myers said.
She attempted to call authorities, but the man, Colin Clevenger, 19, gained possession of the phone, preventing her from calling for help.
After the woman returned to her feet, the suspect pushed the woman against a wall, wrapping his hands around her throat and restricting her breathing. This all reportedly happened in the presence of the 2-year-old, Myers said.
Clevenger initially fled the scene but was apprehended by Bloomington police officers and detained.
Clevenger faces preliminary charges of battery, domestic battery and strangulation, all felony charges, as well as a misdemeanor count of interfering with reporting of a crime.
