Bloomington police are currently pursuing an unknown suspect who cashed fraudulent checks at a local bank.
The suspect is described as a black male with tattoos along his neck and hands. The man walked into German American Bank, 504 N. College Ave., and cashed two checks, one valued at $1,900 and the other at $1,700, BPD Detective Sgt. John Kovach said.
Both checks were presumably stolen out of the mail of two local businesses and were made payable to different names.
The checks were initially processed at the bank on separate dates, Aug. 14 and Sept. 14.
The checks were not found as fraudulent until weeks later and police were called to the bank Oct. 2, Kovach said.
Anyone with information regarding the incident or suspect shown in the surveillance photo is encouraged to call Detective Chris Ryan at 812-349-3320.
