IDS staffers assaulted outside Dunkirk

Three Indiana Daily Student employees on assignment for Inside Magazine were accosted by a drunken man early Saturday morning.

At about 2 a.m. Saturday, a drunken man and his son approached a reporter, a photographer and an editor who were reporting on Kirkwood Avenue.

As the IDS employees approached their vehicle in the parking lot on the corner of South Dunn Street and East Fourth Street, the man, who was upset the group was filming people near Kilroy’s Dunnkirk, shouted at them, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Faron Lake said.

As a female member of the group attempted to put the equipment in the car, the man bumped her into the door, scraping her knee, Lake said.

The group had finished reporting at the time of the altercation.

Police were called to the scene, but the woman is not pressing charges at this time.
