An all-out brawl resulting in six arrests allegedly broke outside a local bar early Tuesday.
Officers of the Bloomington Police Department responded at about 2:55 a.m. to a call at Jake’s Nightclub and were greeted by a mob surrounding two individuals outside.
BPD Detective Sgt. John Kovach said the “large number” of individuals watched as Christopher Hamilton, 25, allegedly struck Gary Lee, 34, in the face.
After the alleged hit, officers who responded to the scene attempted to detain Hamilton.
As arresting officer J’an Guess approached Hamilton, Hamilton began to struggle until Guess had him on the concrete facing down, Kovach said.
An unsuspecting Hamilton laid face-down as Lee came from behind and allegedly “stomped” his head into the concrete.
Guess reported hearing sounds consistent with “teeth crunching” as Hamilton’s face pummeled into the cement, Kovach said.
In total, six arrests were made Tuesday morning in front of the nightclub.
Four individuals, all male and ranging from 24 to 31 years of age, were arrested on the scene for disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor.
At least four police cars responded to the incident as well as at least three officers assisting in arrests, Kovach said.
Additionally, Hamilton was arrested on the preliminary charge of disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement. Lee was arrested for aggravated battery, a Class C felony.
