Update- 4:57 p.m.

Poll workers for today’s primary election have reported low voter turnout, but polls are still open until 6 p.m. this evening.

With the assistance of a new paper ballot scanner, election results are expected to be in by 6 p.m.

Working inside a polling station inside City Hall, volunteer Amy Jen said voter turnout at her station has been slow because the precinct is represented primarily by students.

From 6 a.m., when polls first opened, until 4 p.m., 17 voters cast ballots at City Hall.
With three poll workers at City Hall, volunteer Terry Robbins said they were short three workers to man the polling location.

This shortage in volunteers has not been problematic, Jen said, but she said the three workers will not be able to run the polling location by themselves in the upcoming general election in November.

Check idsnews.com this evening for final results.
