Bloomington police raided two houses and arrested several individuals early Wednesday after a drug investigation that began last year, Lt. Bill Parker of the Bloomington Police Department said.
Confidential informants had bought drugs from those arrested several times before the police obtained warrants, Parker said.
Police arrived at the 700 block of East Hillside Drive at a house labeled R behind nearby apartments and the 800 block of South Larkspur Lane to make arrests. The suspects would not let them inside, so at both locations, police had to force their way inside, Parker said.
During entry, one detective was bitten by a dog and had to be treated at IU Health Bloomington Hospital, Parker said.
Police seized several grams of both marijuana and cocaine from both locations, Parker said.
Police also took two safes and cash allegedly involved in the drug trade.
Police arrested several people who will be charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana or both, which are felony charges. Randy Williams and Joshua Johnson were arrested for possession.
In addition to these charges, Devon Chapman was arrested for Class A felony dealing cocaine with intent to distribute, and John Cheng was arrested for two counts of Class A felony dealing cocaine with intent to distribute.
