McDonald's run turns into arrest, simple battery

Employees of the McDonald's on South Walnut Street called Bloomington police just after midnight Thursday when an intoxicated woman pulled up to the drive thru window to order.

Lana Roberts, 48, had gone inside the restaurant by the time police arrived, Bloomington Police Department Lt. Bill Parker said.

Roberts complied with police when initially arrested for public intoxication, Parker said.
However, her alcohol content level was too high for the Monroe County Jail to accept her, so she was taken to IU-Health Bloomington hospital. That's when things turned sour.

"When they got to the hospital, when she got out of the car, she kicked (Officer Josh Taylor)," Parker said. "She also attempted to bite him."

Roberts was medically cleared by hospital staff, and police booked her into the jail for public intoxication, resisting law enforcement and simple battery.
