2012 Kansas junior college linebacker commits to IU

IU added its 13th member for the 2012 recruiting class Friday when Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College outside linebacker Darrius Stroud offered a verbal commitment.

Stroud is the fourth linebacker to commit for the 2012 class after high school prospects Mike Cotton, Nick Mangieri and Jordan Wallace.

Stroud chose IU over offers from Kansas State University, Oklahoma State University, Texas Tech University and University of Minnesota. According to Rivals.com, Stroud also received interest from University of Arkansas, Ole Miss and defending national champion Auburn University.

Originally from Georgia, Stroud is listed at 6 feet 2 inches and 225 pounds.

He is the first junior college player to commit for this recruiting class, though the Hoosiers also have offers out to tight ends Terrell Mitchell of Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College and Blake Jackson of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College.

According to Rivals, IU is also recruiting Stroud’s teammate at Hutchinson, cornerback Darrius Morrow, but has not yet offered.
