FROM IDS REPORTS
Bloomington’s first annual Renew Festival will promote sustainability by providing local music, food and merchandise to the public.
Sponsored by the Indiana Public Interest Research Group’s Local Foods and Sustainable IU initiatives, the event is designed to show students and residents how to live sustainably both on and off campus.
The event is free and open to the public, but local vendors will be present selling merchandise and food.
Attendees are encouraged to bring cash for purchases.
Eat Local
Chipotle Mexican Grill will give free burritos to the first 50 attendees.
Aver’s Pizza, Bloomington Bagel Co. and Bloomingfoods will provide food for attendees of the event.
Buy Local
Local businesses City Chicks, Full Moon Milk Soaps and Students Producing Organics Under The Sun will be present to sell merchandise. Jake the Painter will be selling artwork at the event. T-shirts will also be available for a donation to Bloomington’s New Hope Family Shelter.
Listen Local
Local bands the Main Squeeze, -pttt> (pronounced as a lip smack), Old Koga and Sam Simmons will perform musical sets free of charge.
The original date of Renew Fest has been changed. The event will now take place 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Dunn Meadow, located at the intersection of Seventh Street and Indiana Avenue.
