Dale Peterson Christine O’Donnell’s “I am not a witch, I am You” ad has been the most viewed campaign ad this year. She originally aired the ad to counter criticism of her 1999 remarks on Bill Maher’s show “Politically Incorrect.” On the show, she said as a teenager she had “Dabbled in witchcraft.” Ironically, the ad went viral. Hence, releasing the ad actually spread her image as a witch, rather than dismissing it as she planned. If you don’t want someone to call you something, just ignore it. Declaring in a campaign ad “I’m not a witch!” will only add to rumors that you are, in fact, a witch. Also, saying “I’m you” is creepy. You are a politician. You are not supposed to be your voters. You are supposed to represent the issues they find important.
Cue the folksy string track and heavy Southern drawl.
Oh, and a gun too.
Dale Peterson, a former hopeful Republican nominee for Alabama’s Agriculture Commissioner, appeared in an ad with a cowboy hat on his head and a horse at his side.
In the commercial, Peterson blames “thugs and criminals” for the daily loss of three family farms in the state, and then proceeds to call his opponent a “dummy” as the camera does a close-up on his uncomfortable-looking equestrian friend.
Despite his promise to “name names” and “take no prisoners” while toting a gun, Peterson lost the June 1 primary.
His video, however, has gone on to rack up almost two million views.
Carly Fiorina
If I could give the Academy Award to Fred Davis, I would.
The work this Republican ad man produces brings cinematic dignity to the campaign season.
His masterpieces, "Demon Sheep" and "Hot Air" are attack ads for Carly Fiorina's California Senate campaign.
For three and a half minutes in "Demon Sheep," the viewer is transported to another dimension where sheep somehow figure into the election process. apparnetly the advertisement is supposed to show the viewer that Firoina's opponent is a fiscal conservative in name only (FCINO).
In "Hot Air," Fiorina's opponent is shown as a hot air balloon menacingly flying around the country.
But I don't get any of that, I just see a demon-possessed sheep and a hot air balloon.
