The IU Police Department is currently investigating a robbery and assault, said Chief of Police Keith Cash in a press release.
The incident took place at 4:06 a.m. Sunday.
Asian students were walking by Forest Quad, and the group was met by a group of African-Americans. After a verbal exchange between both parties — in which the Asian students report being verbally assaulted with a racial slur — two of the Asian students reported being battered, and a total of three reported being robbed, Cash said.
A 19-year-old male student sustained a cut to his inner lip and had a tooth knocked loose. He was brought to Bloomington Hospital, treated and released.
Another Asian student was reportedly struck in the head but did not receive medical treatment. He and another student both had their iPods stolen, while a third had his cell phone taken.
If anyone has information on this incident they can contact IUPD at 812-855-4111.
