IU Student Alumni Association recently announced it will fund repairs to the Showalter Fountain, which was damaged during last Monday’s Nearly Naked Mile.
The association cosponsored the fundraiser, which collected clothing and funds for the Monroe County United Way.
One of three fish sculptures was damaged following the race when students jumped into the fountain.
The fish, which was broken at the base, has been re-welded but is not fully repaired.
“We were sorry that this happened during one of our events,” IUSAA President Amanda Stahl said in a press release. “We are going to pay for the repairs to the fountain and take steps to prevent this from happening again.”
