Bloomington leaf collection to begin Oct. 18

The city of Bloomington recently released its fall leaf collection schedule, which will begin Oct. 18 and conclude Dec. 23.

Leaf bags may be purchased through local retailers, according to a press release issued by the city. Furthermore, the bags may only contain leaves and should be placed on the curb the same day as regular trash pickup.

The leaf bags will be collected free of charge, however, the bags must be biodegradable. Leaves in plastic bags will not be collected.
Unlike regular trash pickup, leaf bags will not require a yard waste sticker.

In addition to curbside pickup, the city will initiate a curbside vacuuming leaf pickup from Nov. 8 through Dec. 17.

Vacuuming pickups will occur from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Leaves should be raked to the edge of the curb and not into the street.
