Indiana delays taxes
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana House Democrats are weighing what to do with a bill that would delay for one year a tax increase on employers who pay money into the state’s unemployment insurance fund. The fund has has borrowed about $1.5 billion from the federal government.

INDIANAPOLIS — In a memo obtained by The Associated Press, Indianapolis-based WellPoint Inc. tells Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that because of the weak economy, healthy people are dropping coverage or buying cheaper plans.
Indiana Department of Education focuses on academic growth
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Education will track each student’s academic growth instead of focusing on standardized tests to measure their progress and that of their schools, Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett said Wednesday. The Indiana Growth Model will help school districts identify which teachers and teaching methods are most effective at improving all students’ performances.
