Man arrested for threat on girlfriend with knives

On Sunday, Bloomington Police arrived at an apartment at the 3100 block of E. Stratum Way. There, a female dialed 911 claiming that her boyfriend, 20-year-old Bloomington resident Tyler Stephen Strother, threatened to kill her with two knives.

Upon their arrival at 3:35 a.m., the officers forced entry through the locked front door. The female had locked herself in her room to isolate herself from her boyfriend.
Although officers failed to locate Strother, his keys, jacket and Blackberry cell phone were left at the female’s apartment. The female allowed Strother into her apartment, according to the Bloomington Police report written by officer Joe Henry.

Once inside, an argument ensued. According to the report, Strother came at her
aggressively with two knives as if he was going to stab her. A warrant was requested for his arrest.

At 11 a.m. on Monday, officer Amy Myers responded to a call from an apartment on S. Parkridge to speak to a man who claimed he had been assaulted and robbed at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. He claimed to have been walking through Campus Corner Apartments.  In the BPD report the man stated he was approached by three unknown black males. The man claimed they had hit him several times and stole his keys, jacket and Blackberry cell phone.

Aware that officers were interested in speaking with Strother due to his involvement in the incident on Sunday, he refused to speak without his attorney.

He was arrested on the charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, battery, and invasion of privacy, a class A misdemeanor.
