WIUX pledge drive to fund equipment upgrades

WIUX Pure Student Radio will have its fourth annual pledge day telethon from 8 a.m. to midnight Friday.

The station’s goal is to raise $7,500. The money will then be used to upgrade studio equipment including a talk-show phone system to allow more interaction from listeners and a computer system to digitize the music used by DJs.

Pledge drive funds will also allow the station to continue to sponsor events.  This fall, the WIUX special events team has sponsored events such as the Sufjan Stevens show and B-town Bash. Future events include a metal-themed show with Face of War and the annual Culture Shock festival.

Throughout the drive, DJs will play the year’s best songs as well as having exclusive giveaway opportunities for pledging. In the afternoon, reporters will be broadcasting live outside Ballantine Hall.

The pledge day begins with the Victoria’s Secret PINK and WIUX Fashion Show 7 p.m. today at  Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union and will feature giveaways from WIUX.
