Instead of taking the bus, some IU students could be faced with taking a hike during the second summer session due to cutbacks in campus bus routes.\nLast week, the IU Campus Bus Service announced its plan to thin bus schedules along the A route by 50 percent as a result of rising fuel prices and a decrease in passengers during the second summer session.\nFor students, this means seeing a bus on the A route only every 30 minutes instead of last summer’s 15-minute intervals. The E route will remain the same at 30-minute intervals. The changes will begin on June 13 and continue through Aug. 9.\nThe cutback comes on the heels of a reduction of the E route for both summer sessions ending service to College Mall. However, the mandatory transportation fee of $32.46 for students taking more than three credit hours per term will remain in place.
