Eco swift boats

The 2004 presidential election added a new word to the national vocabulary: swiftboat.\nI’d define “swiftboat” like this: responding with facts to exaggerations made in order to promote an agenda. \nAs in: John Kerry would not shut up about his Vietnam record, so he got swiftboated by the guys who served with him. \nAl Gore and the global warming lobby are finding themselves in similar circumstances: The more noise they make about global warming, especially in their insistence to use “science” to justify their claims, the more they are getting swiftboated by scientists provoked to speak out.\nI myself was one of the millions who believed what I heard about man-made climate change, and I wouldn’t have had any reason to question the phenomenon were it not for the increasing hysteria of environmentalists, celebrities and left-wing politicians, and the logical counter-arguments of experts, particularly climate scientists. Upon researching both sides of the issue, I saw that the evidence against global warming was much more convincing (and much less emotional) than the evidence for it, and I decided that henceforth I would drive my SUV with pride. If you’re interested in hearing “the other side” of the debate, try typing the names Richard Lindzen, Fred Singer, Pat Michaels, William Gray or Roy Spencer, along with “global warming,” into your favorite search engine (hopefully a hybrid).\nBut if scholarly, scientific reading gets you about as energized as a wind-powered generator, you might try “State of Fear” by Michael Crichton, which packs an enormous amount of myth-debunking science into a fast-paced and entertaining thriller.\nAnd this is just the tip of the iceberg (which is not rapidly melting, contrary to what you may have heard). Literally every day there are stories challenging the climate crisis theory. They’re not usually the stuff seen on front pages or heard on evening newscasts, as they lack the “sexiness” of reports on crisis and doom. But if you’re careful to get your news from a variety of sources, you’ll be sure to encounter regularly these articles that make you say, “Hmmm.” It’s important to know the truth on global warming because most of the “solutions” involve massive government regulation and taxation that would be a hindrance to us and devastating to the Third World.\nI’ll be giving further insight into the man-made global warming myth throughout the semester. But I know that for many of you, global warming is a firmly held tenet of your belief system, and no evidence to the contrary will lead you to believe otherwise ... whether it’s news stories reporting melting ice caps on Mars (yes, Mars!); or record-breaking low temperatures on Earth; or scientific studies which show that higher temperatures lead to more atmospheric CO2, not the other way around; or exposes revealing the distortions, hypocrisies and hidden agendas of the climate crisis crowd.\nAll I really ask is that in 20 years, when it’s the panic over global warming that’s melted away rather than Antarctica, remember that it was the conservative Republicans who were right all along, and vote accordingly. There’s plenty of room in the great big gas-guzzling swiftboat for you.
