For many students, Little 500 week means parties and drinking – a last week of fun before finals.\nBut underage students who plan on going out and living it up this weekend will be faced with more stringent surveillance and might find it even more difficult to “get in with a fake,” said Jim Ballard of \nYogi’s Grill & Bar.\n \n“Most of the people we have working here have been here for a pretty long time, and we know what to expect with a big crowd like this,” said Ballard, manager of Yogi’s, 519 E. 10th St. “Of course, we expect this weekend to be busier than most but we realize that business has a lot to do with the weather as well.”\nMore security will be put into place this weekend in the case that underage students try to get into the bar. But the Little 500 festivities are usually geared toward outdoor events and house parties, he said.\nWith several Bloomington locations, Big Red Liquors has served the community since it was established in south-central Indiana in 1972, the company says on its Web site.\n“It is our job to make sure that everyone that comes through our doors is over 21,” said Rob Williamson, Big Red’s director of marketing and promotions.\nThe Little 500 weekend usually serves as the biggest weekend for business for Big Red in Bloomington, he said.\n“Most (students) around town know that Big Red’s isn’t the place to go with a fake ID,” he said. “But then again, we expect there to be a lot of people from out of town this weekend who may not be as familiar with our regulations.”\nUniformed officers and extra carders will be outside the door of the stores two nights, he said. Everyone will be carded before entering, Williamson said. \nScotty’s Brewhouse, 302 N. Walnut St., will have extra security because of events it will be holding, said Scotty’s manager Jeremy Brown.\n“We will include extra security this weekend with up to five carders outside throughout the night,” he said.\n“If underage students do try to enter the brewhouse,” Brown said, “we will ask them to leave and may call the police depending on the circumstances.”
