The failure of U.S. intelligence agencies to come up with substantial information regarding the Iranian nuclear project is unacceptable. U.S. intelligence is given too much money each year to not be able to provide decision-makers with information on any topic, even a closed society like Iran. After the intelligence failures of Sept. 11, it's time that the legislature cracks down on the Defense Department and CIA to return legitimate results. Important issues, especially knowledge about weapons of mass destruction, are those on which our nation can no longer afford mistakes. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's regime is obviously unstable and at least moderately unpredictable. It is a huge matter of national security that correct results be returned and at a faster rate. Hopefully the House committee's report will spur the intelligence bureaucracy to finally give the results on Iran that U.S. security requires.
