Daniels to push for Indiana to observe daylight-savings \nINDIANAPOLIS -- Daylight-savings time has been one of the most divisive issues debated in the General Assembly for three decades, but Republican Gov.-elect Mitch Daniels said he will push hard for it in the upcoming session.\nHe went beyond that, predicting he would get it passed with broad support. He wasn't alone.\nFormer Democratic House Speaker John Gregg, who opposes the time switch and watched numerous attempts to mandate it die in the Legislature, also predicted that Daniels would be successful.\nDaniels has said that having all of Indiana observe daylight time in the spring and summer would reduce confusion both for residents and for out-of-state companies wanting to do business here.\n"This is not simply a matter of personal preference or convenience," Daniels told reporters Thursday. "Many of our neighbors would have a job or a better job if we made this change. It does very directly impact businesses of many kinds in our state."
Indiana airport reopens after \nsecurity scare\nINDIANAPOLIS -- Officials closed two of the Indianapolis International Airport's four concourses for a few hours Thursday after inspectors found what they believed to be a suspicious item in a passenger's carry-on bag.\nJust before noon officials saw a cylindrical object in a carry-on bag being X-rayed at the security check area for concourses B and C, said airport spokesman Dennis Rosebrough.\nFlights using those boarding areas were diverted to other places in the airport and passengers were evacuated from the B and C concourses. A bomb squad took the object, Rosebrough said.\nThe passenger in whose luggage the object was found was interrogated by police but was allowed to continue traveling, he said. The person was traveling with another passenger.\nRosebrough would not say what the suspicious object was.\n"That part of the investigation is ongoing," he said.\nNo flights were canceled, but 14 were affected by the temporary closure. By about 3:30 p.m., Rosebrough said, the airport was operating as usual.
