Blazers' Zach Randolph arrested for DUI

Former Marion High School star added to list of team delinquents

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Trail Blazer forward Zach Randolph was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence after an officer said he smelled marijuana in the player's car, police said.\nRandolph, a former Indiana All-Star, was released a few hours after his arrest, police said.\nHe had been pulled over for not driving within a lane when the officer "noted a strong odor of burning marijuana coming from the vehicle," police Sgt. Cheryl Robinson said.\nA team spokesman did not return a call seeking comment.\nThe misdemeanor charge carries a potential sentence of up to one year in jail and up to a $5,000 fine, according to Multnomah County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Shults. Randolph was to be arraigned Dec. 30.\nRandolph, who became a starter this season, leads the team with an average of 20.7 points and 11.2 rebounds a game.\nRandolph led Marion High School to the 2000 Class 4A state title in Indiana. The two-time All-State selection played one season at Michigan State before entering the NBA draft.\nThe Blazers have been plagued by a series of arrests and infighting the past few seasons. Bonzi Wells, another former Indiana All-Star who played at Ball State, was stripped of his co-captaincy and suspended for two games after cursing at coach Maurice Cheeks. Also Damon Stoudamire is facing drug charges.
