West beats East\nATLANTA -- On a night for Michael Jordan, all he was missing was the game-winning shot.\nJordan said goodbye to the All-Star game with his eyes teary and his game a bit blemished as the West beat the East 155-145 in double overtime Sunday night.\nA last-minute starter after Vince Carter relinquished his spot, Jordan had a poor start, a bad finish and then a good one. After clanging the potential winning shot off the iron at the end of regulation, Jordan made a high-arching 15-footer with 4.8 seconds left in overtime to give the East a two-point lead.\nKobe Bryant tied it, however, by making two foul shots with 1 second left, and Jordan's final shot of the first overtime was blocked just before the buzzer. MVP Kevin Garnett scored nine of his 37 points in the second overtime as Jordan watched the final five minutes from the bench. It was the first double-overtime game in All-Star history.\nAlthough Jordan missed his first seven shots, had four others rejected and blew a dunk, he did score 20 points to move past Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for most total points in All-Star history. But he needed to take 27 shots from the field -- making only nine -- in order to do it.\n"I leave the game in good hands," Jordan said. "So many great stars rising and playing the game. I have passed on the things that Dr. J and some of the great players -- Magic Johnson, Larry Bird -- have passed on to me, I pass on to these All-Stars here, as well as to the rest of the players in the NBA.\n"I want to thank you all for your support," he said. "Now I can go home and feel at peace with the game of basketball."\nGeorgia Tech upends No. 8 Maryland\nATLANTA -- Jarrett Jack banked in a crucial 3-pointer with 39 seconds remaining and Georgia Tech handed No. 8 Maryland its second straight loss, beating the Terrapins 90-84 on Sunday.\nJack, a freshman point guard, scored a career-high 20 points and ran an offense that became the first this season to reach 90 points against Maryland's high-intensity defense.\nThe Terrapins (14-6, 6-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) will certainly tumble in the new rankings on Monday, losing again on the heels of an 86-78 defeat at home to Virginia.\nGeorgia Tech (12-8, 5-4) continued its Jekyll-and-Hyde season by improving to 11-0 at Alexander Memorial Coliseum. The Yellow Jackets have yet to win a road game, picking up their only other win at a neutral site.\nTorin Francis inside for the game-winning basket with .6 seconds left and No. 10 Notre Dame beat No. 4 Pittsburgh 66-64 Sunday, overcoming a 10-point deficit to win its 13th straight home game.\nThe Panthers had one last chance, but Jordan Cornette swatted away the inbounds pass by Jaron Brown as time expired.\nThomas led the Irish with 24 points and eight assists.\nThe Irish (19-4, 7-2 Big East) are a half-game ahead of the Panthers (16-3, 6-2) in the Big East West Division.\nCarroll had 14 points for the Irish, who shot 59 percent in the second half.\nThe Irish also outrebounded the Panthers 16-9 in the second half after being outrebounded 24-10 in the opening 20 minutes.
