RecSports fair draws 200

About 200 people crammed into the Student Recreational Sports Center auditorium Tuesday night with two goals in mind: money and fun.\nStudents going after jobs as soccer referees and business representatives sat together and waited for the presentation. They were vying to land these coveted positions at the SRSC.\nThe first annual RecSports Job Fair was put together to attract prospective student employees to the SRSC. Positions were offered in areas from intramural and club sport refereeing to internships on the business end of the SRSC.\nOthers were interested in different positions.\nFreshman Anne Whisler said she was interested in swiping people's cards, because of the "interaction with people" involved.\nVolunteer opportunities were presented as well and options for work study students. The eight departments who wished to hire all gave their own pitch, describing the fun that employees have and the benefits that come along with employment.\nProgram directors told the audience that work at the SRSC is a good opportunity for personal and professional development. The audience listened as the positions available were described. When the presentation of the jobs finished, students raced to find representatives corresponding with their job interest.\nAtia Tate, a junior, said she was intimidated by the large crowd, calling the turnout "a little discouraging."\nAaron Olson, a graduate student and intramural sports representative, said he considered the turnout a sign of success.\n"Getting to work with people on a personal level (is the best part of working at the SRSC)," Olson said. "I'm excited to meet the new people and get them trained"
