More to Las Vegas than just gambling

First I would like to say that I enjoyed reading Michael Moy's column ("Vegas mirrors life," March 22), and I do on a regular basis. But I would like to respond to this column about Las Vegas. \nLike you and your friends, I was out in Vegas for spring break. I was there for eight days. Yes, twice as long as you were. And I lost nothing in Vegas. Not one penny to gambling. For all of the eight days I was there, I gambled nothing. I did not sit at one slot machine, or even a $5 blackjack table. Yes, I visited the casinos (free drinks, duh!) several times. My intent for spring break was not to make or break my bank account. \nFor the first three days I was there, three friends and I drove 45 minutes to Lake Mead and camped out. It was the most breathtaking experience. You said, "Vegas IS breathtaking." Nature is the same type of breathtaking reserved for things so beautiful they make your head struggle to find the right words! The mountains were the most beautiful thing I had ever laid eyes upon. Did you not notice every time you stepped outside of the casino, there were gorgeous majestic mountains in every direction? My friend and I saw people like you in Vegas every day. You were at the roulette table, while we were just walking through the casino to get a drink or use the bathroom; meanwhile the sun was shining and there were blue skies.\nI hope you did enjoy your trip, but you missed out on some great things while you were there. If you get a chance to go back, please take a moment and look around you at the beauty of Las Vegas.
