A weekend celebrating Tibetan culture

To celebrate the groundbreaking for the Chamtse Ling, a temple dedicated to interfaith and international peace and harmony, the Bloomington Tibetan Culture Center will have an interfaith gathering from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19. \nThe temple will be built on the grounds of the Tibetan Culture Center, and its construction is from private donations, including those that will be collected during the groundbreaking events.\nThe interfaith gathering will incorporate performances by cultural groups in Bloomington. Guest speakers will present their work and their views on the state of Tibetan culture. All performances and events will be in a heated tent, as will be Saturday's Dorje Phurba Initiation. Food and wares will be sold during the gathering.\nThe festivities will begin at 6 p.m. Friday with "A Taste of Tibet," a Tibetan feast sponsored by the Snow Lion.\nThe Dorje Phurba initiation, the closing event will be performed at 7 p.m Saturday evening. Jigdal Dagchen Rinpoche, the founder and principal guru of Sakya Monastery of Tibetan Buddhism in Seattle, Wash., will lead the initiation. The practice of Dorje Phurba is said to have the power to clear obstacles and delusions and awaken compassion within.\nThe final event, a teaching session on Dorje Phurba by Rinpoche, will be at 1 p.m Sunday. \nFor more information contact the Tibetan Cultural Center at 334-7046.\nevent schedule and suggested donations:\nNov. 17
