Sophomores defensive back Will Dawkins and offensive lineman Tim Gardner are no longer part of the IU football program, IU Coach Kevin Wilson announced Monday in an IU Athletics press release.

The reason for the sophomores’ dismissals was not stated.

“We thank Will and Tim for their contributions,” Wilson said in the release. “They are leaving IU in good academic standing, and we wish them the very best moving forward."

Gardner played in 11 games in 2015 and was a 4-star recruit in IU’s 2014 recruiting class. He was part of an offensive line that boasted two 1,000-yard rushers and led the Big Ten in offensive yards.

Dawkins, the ESPN No. 22 safety in the nation in 2014, played in nine games in 2015, including three starts in the final three games. He recorded five tackles in the win against Purdue.
