Indiana track and field concluded travel for the regular season this weekend at the Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas, and the Sycamore Open in Terre Haute, Indiana.
On Friday, the Hoosiers opened competition at the Texas Invitational with five top-10 finishes.
Graduate student Antonio Laidler finished third in the men’s 200-meter dash in 20.57 seconds.
In the men’s 400-meter hurdles, graduate student Micah Camble’s time of 51.97 seconds earned him fifth place.
Sophomore Cole Raymond placed second in the men’s 3,000-meter run in 9:57.04.
On Saturday, Indiana added 13 additional top-10 finishes.
In the women’s high jump, sophomore Taylor Schoonveld cleared a personal-best height of 1.75 meters to finish fourth and move to ninth in program history.
Graduate student Nathan Stone and junior Tyler Carrel both surpassed 5.45 meters in the men’s pole vault to earn fourth and fifth place, respectively.
In the women’s triple jump, senior Mahogany Jenkins’ leap of 12.75 meters earned her second.
Laidler won the men’s 100-meter dash in a season-best time of 10.11 seconds.
He teamed up with sophomore Novo Onovwerosuoke and juniors Otto De St Jeor and Trelee Banks for the 4x100-meter relay. The group placed second in 40.01 seconds, earning the sixth-fastest time in program history.
In the women’s 800-meter run, senior Maddie Russin finished third in 2:08.93.
Freshman Cambell Wamsley, sophomore Kai Snell and seniors Morgan Snow and Olivia Gee placed second in the women’s 4x400-meter relay in 3:48.27.
The Hoosiers also competed in the one-day Sycamore Open on Saturday, adding eight personal bests.
The throwing squad had a strong showing, with freshman Drew Franklin and juniors Hunter Smith and Tyler Reyna achieving personal bests in the men’s discus. Franklin’s toss of 50.58 meters placed fourth, Smith finished fifth with a throw of 49.43 meters and Reyna’s hurl of 48.31 meters earned him sixth.
Reyna and Smith also added personal bests in the hammer throw. Reyna placed third with a distance of 57.74 meters and Smith sixth with 55.10 meters. In the women’s hammer throw, freshman Bridget Beyer finished third with a personal-best toss of 51.75 meters and junior Emily Herndon fourth with another personal best of 49.01 meters.
Herndon also earned second in the shot put with a throw of 14.00 meters.
In the men’s sprints, sophomore Jaylen Grimes won the 400-meter dash in a personal-best time of 49.05 seconds and junior Gage Pratt took fourth in the 200-meter dash.
Indiana finishes out its regular season at home May 3 with the Billy Hayes Invitational.
