Preacher will file legal action against IU

Evangelist Jim Gilles said Friday he will take legal action against IU in response to a meeting last Tuesday in which administrators said he was violating the "campus demonstrations, picketing and assembly ground policy." The University instructed him to move from his position between Woodburn and Ballantine Hall to Dunn Meadow.

Little 500 founder Wilcox dies

The father of the Little 500 and founder of the IU Student Foundation, Howard "Howdy" Wilcox, died Monday morning in Indianapolis. He was 82-years-old.

Iraq fires at US, British warplanes in no-fly zones

WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration criticized Iraq Monday for continuing to fire on U.S. and British warplanes patrolling over two no-fly zones, saying the skirmishes are more evidence of Saddam Hussein's defiance of the international community.

Space for science

Depth key as men's cross country team positions for Big 10 title run

Cross country coaches routinely stress that a team is only as strong as its fifth man. With the depth sophomore Kurtis George provides, the Hoosiers are positioning themselves for a Big Ten title run. In the early part of the season, the team has used a strong pack to lead them to commanding victories. George made his presence felt in the pack.

I guess that old mind over matter saying has some merit. In a recent and somewhat controversial study, Irving Kirsh of the University of Connecticut and Guy Sapirstein of Westwood Lodge Hospital in Massachusetts assert that the wonder drug Prozac, a popular anti-depressant, basically works because patients believe it will work, and not because of its chemical matter.

Sophomore golfer hears hype

Even though the Hoosiers were not overly successful as a whole this weekend at the Northern Intercollegiate, a few individuals brought light to the tournament. Playing on their home course, one that coach Mike Mayer said does not yield many low scores, the team's experience was evident. The team tied for fifth place, shooting an 860.
