IU wins three events at Drake Relays

The IU track and field team won three events at this weekend’s Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

Young Jeezy performs Friday evening in the parking lot of Sigma Alpha Mu, part of the entertainment events for the Little 500 weekend. The concert was presented and produced by seniors Jonathan Wolf and Daniel Kuniansky of Blue Ocean Productions and seniors Jehad Bittar and Zack Kranz of Revival Entertainment.

Hoosiers finish 5th in Eastern Championships

Although it won two of three games this weekend, the IU water polo team finished in fifth place at the Collegiate Water Polo Association’s Eastern Championship in Cambridge, Mass.

As Caroline Brown of Pi Beta Phi sprinted down the home stretch in Friday’s women’s Little 500 race, teammate Liz Mackey said she had confidence in Brown.

Six Class of 2009 recruits will officially join the team in June, but IU men’s basketball coach Tom Crean already has one verbal commitment for the following year: junior David Williams.

Sophomore Eric Young leads the pack while sprinting in the last laps of the 2009 Little 500. Despite getting a 3 second penalty for advancing their position by using the gutter near lap 173, the Cutters gained their position back and won the race, beating Delta Tau Delta by a few seconds.

Pi Beta Phi rider Caroline Brown took the 2009 women’s Little 500 into her own hands Friday. Brown’s coach Tim Kolar called it “epic,” a “Hall of Fame ride.” Given that she rode about three-quarters of the race, most Little 500 fans might agree.

New law to offer grants to counties with high unemployment
