From Buffalo to Bloomington: The tale of a chicken wing

Ivano Toscani of the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, N.Y. gained celebrity status as the head chef of the establishment that invented the staple for every college student and sports fan ­— the Buffalo wing. Although the Anchor Bar is more than 500 miles from IU, Bloomington also has a respectable wing selection from which to choose.

Polar plunge group grows, braves icy lake waters

Members of the Penrose family tried to keep warm by layering bathrobes and beach towels on top of their swimsuits. They, along with 78 others, dressed for a day at the beach and braved cold New Year’s Day temperatures to take a plunge in Lake Monroe. Bloomington’s seventh annual Polar Bear Plunge took place at 11 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Minnesota forward Trevor Mbakwe had 16 rebounds to go along with 11 points and five blocks as the No. 21 Golden Gophers defeated the IU men's basketball team 67-63 on Tuesday in Williams Arena.

IU receiver Doss will declare for NFL Draft

IU star wide receiver Tandon Doss will forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL Draft, as first reported by the IDS. Doss met with new IU coach Kevin Wilson on Monday to inform him of his decision. Doss is declaring now because he believes his stock is as high as it is going to get, especially since the Hoosiers will have a young starting quarterback next season, a source said.
