Postseason play looms for IU

It’s crunch time for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. The women take part in the Big Ten Championship next week while 11 men will travel to the OSU Winter Open this weekend to finalize their Big Ten Championship roster.

Palm Beach next on tap for Hoosiers

The IU men’s golf team will travel back to Florida this weekend to compete in the Big Ten Match Play Championship at the PGA National Champions Course in Palm Beach, Fla.

After a three-month tournament layoff where a majority of practices occurred indoors, the IU women’s golf team is back in action this weekend in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.

In addition to playing four matches, the Hoosiers will be challenged by Illinois State’s lineup which features a ranked singles player and a top-50 doubles team.

Hoosier pitchers boast depth heading into season

With a starter returning from an injury-shortened 2010 campaign and an influx of young, versatile talent, the squad is hoping the 2011 season can see significant improvement from a pitching staff that allowed the most earned runs in the Big Ten a year ago.

Bloomington’s Commission on the Status of Black Males has given the Outstanding Black Male Leaders of Tomorrow Award annually since 2006, which recognizes  community members who have contributed to the city through their service or leadership.

NCTC to clarify FAFSA process

Indiana College Goal Sunday is a program that helps college-bound Indiana students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The Bloomington session, one of 36 sites in the state, will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 20 at Ivy Tech Community College.

SportsCenter’s Steele to speak at Neal-Marshall

The host of SportsCenter, Sage Steele, will speak at 4:15 p.m. Friday in the Neal-Marshall Black Cultural Center’s Bridgwaters Lounge. Steele’s visit will include an informal Q&A session with light refreshments.
