Kahn’s comeback culminates with award

·

Diving again was all junior Cassidy Kahn wanted. But during the past year, she has gotten more than that. Kahn’s accomplishments reached their peak for the 2009-10 season when she was awarded the 2010 Thomas A. Brady Comeback Award last week. The award is given to someone who overcame adversity or injury and returned to excel beyond expectations in their respective sport.

Greetings from Australia

·

Dear Bloomington,As you know, this past weekend was The Greatest College Weekend Ever. Snoop Dogg came, and so did rain storms and about 10,000 cops. There’s nothing like Little 500 in Bloomington.Well, except maybe for Little 500 in Wollongong, Australia.

Clausen’s past puts him rightfully below Tebow

·

About a year-and-a-half ago, it was Tim Tebow standing at the podium, pledging to push his team harder than no one ever had in the past — to work harder than anyone ever had. And this past Friday, it was again Tebow at the podium pledging to the world.  Although this time, it was pledging to do something much more challenging than working hard or speaking louder — playing quarterback in the NFL.

Rain causes confusion, controversy during race

·

Black Key Bulls rider Jordan Bailey described it as “epic.” Phi Gamma Delta rider David Ellis said it showed who wasn’t going to quit until the finish line. Phi Delta Theta rider Nick Sovinski said he could have done without the wet cinders in his eyes. All 33 teams on the field had to fight through pouring rain and changing track conditions.

Crean: Cook Hall will leave recruits ‘blown away’

·

Assembly Hall has undergone minimal changes since it first opened in 1971. IU fans saw the addition of a $1.99 million state-of-the-art scoreboard in 2005. But very little else looks different from when the 17,456-seat facility first opened 39 years ago. Sunday afternoon, however, marked the dedication of the new basketball development center, Cook Hall.

Cutters break away, break record with 4th-straight championship

·

Men's Final Standings (after IU Student Foundation ruling): 1) Cutters 2) Phi Delta Theta 3) Phi Gamma Delta 4) Delta Tau Delta 5) Beta Theta Pi2007. 2008. 2009. 2010: Four straight years the Cutters have crossed the finish line of the men’s Little 500 first. Through downpours, thunder and yes-even lightning. The 32 other teams of the 60th running of the men’s  Little 500 were not able to hold off the Cutter’s victory.

Teter wins the Women's Little 500

·

It’s a Little 500 tradition. The rider who crosses the finish line first raises her hands — triumphant in victory. But when Teter’s Caitlin Van Kooten crossed the finish line, she was hesitant about raising her hands. A nightmare she had before the race made her second guess the historical gesture.

Chasing Cutters, men's teams aim for front spot

·

Among riders, it’s joked about as the most celebrated second-place finish in the history of the Little 500, but Delta Tau Delta riders were celebrating their fraternity’s highest finish in Little 500 history last April.

Cutters eye historic 4th-straight title

·

Final standings:1) Cutters 2) Phi Delta Theta 3) Delta Tau Delta 4) Beta Theta Pi 5) Gray Goat CyclingThe Cutters aren’t reloading from last year’s third-consecutive Little 500 title — they don’t need to. With every member of the 2009 title-winning team returning to compete this year, the Cutters will seek an unprecedented fourth-consecutive title as the outright favorite in Saturday’s race. The scariest part about the Cutters for the rest of the field is that they are convinced they’re a better team than last year.

Former 4-star guard Offutt could join Hoosiers’ roster

·

In less than two days, IU lost two of its top recruiting targets, forwards Cody Larson and Will Yeguete, to Florida. While IU is still in pursuit of an additional big man for the 2010 recruiting class, it has an opportunity to add a former four-star guard in the coming weeks — as a walk-on.
