Things do not get any easier for the IU women's basketball team. After a game at No. 14 Penn State last Sunday, the Hoosiers (9-10, 2-7 Big Ten) return home to host No. 15 Minnesota this Sunday at 1 p.m. at Assembly Hall. "This is a really big game," IU coach Kathi Bennett said. "It's one of the biggest ones of the season. We want to pick up a victory and have to play at a high level of energy if we want to be successful."
Jack Kerouac's original manuscript of his famous beat novel "On the Road" is currently on display at the Lilly Library. Perhaps the Hoosiers should stop by and check it out during their brief two-game home stand -- they probably could relate.
Saturday at a four-way meet in Illinois, the No. 16 men's track and field team's top 400-meter runner, junior Ryan Sarbinoff, came up with an injured hamstring during warm ups. This left his training partner, junior Dan Martin, as the top 400-meter runner.
Senior Rachelle Boone hasn't always been known for her 60- and 200-meter performances. Until high school, Boone's sport of choice was soccer. Her teammates urged her to try running track, and she immediately caught the coach's attention.

EVANSTON, Ill. -- OK, so IU has been struggling on the road. That can be expected when playing the likes of Purdue, Michigan State and Louisville. But this was Northwestern, who had yet to win a Big Ten game. And nearly half of the crowd at Welsh-Ryan Arena was wearing Cream and Crimson.
EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Hoosiers didn't even win the tip. Nor did the IU men's basketball team get more rebounds or more steals. All it can boast is more turnovers and a fourth consecutive loss. Road games have not been kind to the Hoosiers (14-7, 4-4 Big Ten).

Just one more game, and then the IU men's basketball team gets to enjoy the comforts of home. And home has never looked better to the Hoosiers, who are struggling their way through four trying road games. Three of the games have gone the other way and have subsequently dropped IU from the rankings for the first time all season. Before home, however, the Hoosiers (14-6, 4-3 Big Ten) travel to Evanston, Ill., for the 9 p.m. game to take on the Northwestern Wildcats who are experiencing a disheartening streak of their own. The Wildcats are 8-10 for the season and have not picked up a victory since before the start of the Big Ten season, making them 0-7 in the conference.
