Mother Nature would only allow for 415 miles to be completed in the 91st running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. But the fans who stayed at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway through a nearly three-hour rain delay saw a total of 11 caution flags and 23 lead changes.

Ultimate Frisbee team places 11th at tourney

After a 12 year absence from the UPA College Ultimate Championships, The IU Club Ultimate Frisbee proved they belonged there. The Hoosiermama? team broke and tied for an 11th place finish in the Columbus, Ohio tournament after being seeded 14th before the beginning of the weekend.

Indianapolis loses out on hosting Super Bowl XLV to Dallas

Colts owner Jim Irsay wants another shot at the Super Bowl ­– and not just repeating as NFL champions. After Indianapolis narrowly lost its bid Tuesday to host the 2011 Super Bowl, Irsay said to count him in if city officials decide to make another push for the league’s most prestigious game.

Wrestling assistant takes job in Delaware

After five years as an assistant coach for the IU wrestling team, Reggie Wright is leaving the Hoosiers to take a head-coaching job at Delaware State University. On Monday, Wright was named the head coach of the Hornets, a team not affiliated with a conference.

Hoosiers gather their champions

The IU track and field squads will take their five Big Ten champions and many other athletes to Columbia, Mo. Friday to compete in the NCAA Mideast Regional. The regional meet is an opportunity for competitors to finish near the top of their respective events and earn themselves a bid to compete at the NCAA Track and Field National Championships. IU has a total five Big Ten champions: two pole vaulters, two long jumpers and one distance runner.

Hoosiers end season against Minnesota

Sunday’s weather couldn’t have been better, and neither could the final game of the Hoosier baseball team’s season. IU won the last game in a dramatic fashion in a bottom-of-the-ninth inning rally. IU and Minnesota split the series overall with two wins apiece. Although it was the end of a relatively rocky season, freshman shortstop Evan Crawford thought the series was a good way to close out the year.  Video: IU's final game against Minnesota  (05.20.2007)

Ebanks tops Hoosiers wish list for 2008 recruiting class

The sidelines were a “who’s who” of IU basketball. Senior forward D.J. White, sophomore guard Armon Bassett and junior-college recruit DeAndre Thomas sat at the scorer’s table enjoying themselves and working the clock. Junior center Ben Allen roamed around in flip-flops. Senior forward Lance Stemler, off crutches from his summer ankle injury, joined Allen and took the game in from the nearby bleachers, while IU recruit Jamarcus Ellis took in the action as well.

Golf team goes for IU’s 26th national championship

The Hoosiers hold 25 national championships to their name, 18 of which have come in men’s basketball, soccer and swimming. Now the IU women’s golf team has the opportunity to clench number 26 and the first for a team in their sport.

Manager charged in dispute over dog

The tale of Chelsea soccer manager Jose Mourinho’s clash with authorities began when his wife called him Tuesday evening to say police were trying to seize their Yorkshire terrier over an alleged violation of Britain’s strict quarantine laws, according to The Sun newspaper.

Campillo prepares for postseason tournaments
