3 Hoosiers compete at tennis invite

This weekend marked the beginning of the fall season for the men’s tennis team. While three players were at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla., junior Peter Antons and freshmen Santiago Gruter and Jai Yoon traveled north for the Tom Fallon Invitational at Notre Dame. The three Hoosiers compiled a singles record of 6-6 and a doubles record of 3-5 on the weekend.

No. 26 IU finishes 3rd against strong field

The No. 26 IU men’s golf team had another successful tournament weekend at the Olympia Fields/Illini Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill. Led by the dazzling play of junior Jorge Campillo, the Hoosiers finished third at the invitational, just six strokes behind runner-up Texas and 13 strokes back from tournament champion Oklahoma State. “I made some tough putts, and I made the putts I really needed to hit,” Campillo said. “We played some really great teams out here, and it feels good to finish the way we did.”

IU recruit does jail time

IU basketball recruit Bud Mackey spent one night in jail this weekend after being arrested at school Friday on suspicion of cocaine trafficking.

Hoosiers crash homecoming party with win

In the past 32 games at Kinnick Stadium, the Iowa Hawkeyes had only lost four times. Apparently, that didn’t matter to the IU football team, which handed Iowa its fifth loss in 33 home games with a 38-20 win Saturday.

Sophomore’s five goals lead IU women's soccer team to 2 wins over weekend

With five goals this weekend, sophomore forward Kristin Arnold outscored both opponents the IU women’s soccer team faced. On Friday, Arnold scored three goals as the Hoosiers overcame a second-half surge from Northwestern to win 4-3. She netted two more in the Hoosiers’ 2-0 win Sunday over Wisconsin.

IU field hockey team loses heartbreaker to No. 6 Iowa

The IU field hockey team traveled to Iowa City, Iowa, this weekend with thoughts of upsetting the No. 6 Hawkeyes. After 70 minutes couldn’t determine a winner, the Hoosiers upset bid was spoiled in a 2-1 overtime loss.

IU women's golf team nets 3rd straight Top 5 finish

The IU women’s golf team has placed sky-high expectations on itself this fall. Despite leaving the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., with their third straight Top 5 finish to open the season, the Hoosiers thought they should have done better.

From ‘Oh crap’ to touchdown

The play is legendary. It’s referred to as “the fumblerooski,” and also as “the annexation of Puerto Rico.” On Saturday, sophomore quarterback Kellen Lewis and senior fullback Josiah Sears had their own serendipitous variation that left the Hoosiers elated and the Hawkeyes stunned.

Colts defeat Broncos 38-20; lose Harrison, Morris to injuries

For the third consecutive year, the Indianapolis Colts are 4-0. But Sunday’s 38-20 home win against the Denver Broncos came at a price. Pro Bowl wide receiver Marvin Harrison and starting linebacker Rob Morris suffered injuries during the first half, causing them to leave the game. Morris had a brace placed on his strained left knee and was carted off the field near the end of the half.

Hoosiers down Iowa 38-20

In the past 32 games at Kinnick Stadium, the Iowa Hawkeyes had only lost four times. Apparently that didn’t matter to the IU football team, who chalked up loss number five in a 38-20 win over Iowa, Saturday.
