Football team defeats Purdue, gets to 7 wins on Starr's 49-yard game-winning goal

IU refused to let another bowl chance slip away Saturday, and certainly not against its archrival Purdue for the second straight year. Kellen Lewis ran for two touchdowns, and IU held off a frantic rally when Austin Starr made a 49-yard field goal with 30 seconds left to give the Hoosiers a 27-24 victory.

IU womens soccer team beats Toledo; will play Purdue in next round Sunday

The IU womens soccer team will advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after a 3-2 double-overtime victory over Toledo on Friday. On Sunday, the Hoosiers will play rival and No. 2 seed Purdue.

Last Wednesday, the IU volleyball team faced off against rival Purdue for the second time this season. After tQaking the first game 30-16, the Hoosiers dropped the match by losing three straight games, 23-30, 26-30, 24-30, respectively. Although IU dropped to 15-14 after the match, they gave Purdue the worst one-game loss the Boilermakers have suffered since 2002.

Purdue is last home game for seniors

The late Jerry Garcia once sang, “What a long, strange trip it’s been.” Truer words couldn’t be spoken about the four years the 16 seniors on the IU football team have experienced. Their journey wearing the cream and crimson comes to an end at Memorial Stadium on Saturday when the Hoosiers host rival Purdue with the Old Oaken Bucket at stake.

Thomas gives IU more post presence

IU is down by one point. One-and-two-tenths seconds remain in overtime. Junior forward DeAndre Thomas is on the line about to shoot two free throws. After a couple of dribbles, Thomas calmly sinks the first free throw. One shot remains to give the Hoosiers the victory.

Hoosiers face Rockets on Friday in NCAA Tournament

With its season on the line, the IU women’s soccer team will battle the University of Toledo on Friday in the Hoosiers’ first NCAA Tournament game since 1998. The Hoosiers travel to West Lafayette to take on the Rockets at 11 a.m. The winner of Friday’s match and the winner of the Purdue-Oakland contest will face each other Sunday. The winner of that game will travel to College Station, Texas, and continue in the tournament.

Hoosiers begin season with high expectations

The men garnered a fourth place conference finish and Top-20 NCAA ranking, while the women won their first Big Ten conference title since 2003. Knicks fine Stephon Marbury more than $180,000 for skipping game at Phoenix

The team fined Stephon Marbury more than $180,000 after he blew off Tuesday night’s game against Phoenix, the latest clash between the disgruntled point guard and coach Isiah Thomas.

IU hosts Hoosierland Open this week
