Dakich still living the dream

When Dan Dakich assumed the role of director of basketball operations at IU two seasons ago, neither he nor anyone else could have predicted the mountains and valleys to come within the next few months.

CHICAGO - A goal in the first five minutes was a dagger in the United States Men's National Team's last contest. This time around, however, it turned into a spark.

A goal within the first five minutes of play by Honduras and a penalty kick goal by Landon Donovan in the 43rd minute has the United States Men's National Team tied with Honduras 1-1 at halftime at Soldier Field.

IU's season makes prospects look bright

After the Hoosiers’ 2009 Big Ten Championship and NCAA Louisville Regional appearance, two feats IU baseball had not accomplished since 1996, it’s safe to say IU coach Tracy Smith’s project has begun.

US looks to qualify in Chicago

On Saturday, the action comes to the Midwest with Soldier Field playing host to the United States Men’s National Team versus Honduras in the third and final home World Cup qualifying match for the U.S men, and some members of the IU soccer team will be tuning in.

Even sports teams are feeling the financial pinch

On Tuesday, newspapers published statistics showing that the 20 Premier League teams owe a total of 3.1 billion pounds (about $5.1 billion). The top two clubs – Manchester United and Chelsea – topped the list with 699 million pounds and 701 million pounds, respectively.

Hoosiers get a taste of Italian culture

The IU women’s basketball team members are still a bit jet-lagged from their 10-day excursion in Italy, where they managed to win four games while touring the country’s landmarks.

Vanderbilt would go on to score five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, extending its lead beyond IU’s reach. The exchange led to a premature end to IU’s first trip to the NCAA Regional since 1996.
