IU baseball players earn All-Big Ten honors

Junior Alex Dickerson and freshman Joey DeNato each were named First Team All-Big Ten. Sophomore Micah Johnson earned Third Team honors, and DeNato and fellow freshman Dustin DeMuth were selected to the conference's All-Freshman squad.

Former IU quarterback dies of leukemia at 44

Dave Schnell led the Hoosiers to victory in the 1988 Liberty Bowl, of which he earned MVP honors, as well as in two other bowl games during his collegiate career.

Forward Capobianco to transfer from IU

Forward Bobby Capobianco is leaving the IU men’s basketball team. The rising junior announced his intention to seek a transfer Friday in a statement from IU Athletics.

Tagliani claims Indianapolis 500 pole

Tagliani posted a four-lap average speed of 227.472 miles per hour during the "Fast Nine" shootout at the end of the day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, besting 2008 "500" winner Scott Dixon's average of 227.340 miles per hour.

Baseball slips before finale at Illinois

Senior Dylan Swift provided some fun and sparked a rally in the Hoosiers' 8-4 loss to Louisville on Tuesday at Sembower Field, but coach Tracy Smith said he believes the team is mentally ready for its final regular-season series this weekend at Illinois.

Softball ready for NCAA regional play

The Hoosiers will participate in postseason play for the first time since 2006 when they match up with DePaul on Friday as part of the NCAA Division I Softball Championship.

Hulls, Oladipo join Far East excursion

Rising junior guard Jordan Hulls and rising sophomore guard Victor Oladipo will join a Reach USA trip to the Far East from May 17-31, IU Athletics announced Monday in a press release.

Fighting to keep its postseason hopes alive, IU won three games, including a 13-12 marathon victory in 15 frames Saturday and Sunday, to claim a crucial series sweep of Big Ten-leading Michigan State at Sembower Field.
