Early lead spurs IU victory

The Hoosiers utilized a fast first half start to defeat Penn State in University Park, Pa., Monday night 74-51 to begin conference play 2-0.

After jumping out to a 31-13 lead in the first half, the IU men's basketball team was able to maintain its lead during an offensive drought to defeat Penn State 74-51 Monday night in State College, Pa.

Hoffman dismissed from team

Relief pitcher Jonny Hoffman has been charged with a Class C felony of drug dealing and has subsequently been dismissed from the IU baseball program.

IU Coach Randy Bloemendaal took the men’s tennis team to Boca Raton, Fla. to compete in the Four Conference Showdown against Florida Atlantic, Radford and No. 34 Louisville last weekend. The team trained in Florida for three days before starting their competition on Jan. 4.

Nittany Lions adjust after loss of Frazier

Penn State senior guard Tim Frazier had been averaging 21.7 points to lead the Nittany Lions through their first three games. However, on Nov. 18, 2012, the preseason All-Big Ten selection suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon in the team’s 85-60 loss to Akron in the Puerto Rico Tipoff and was declared out for the season.

A day short of one year ago, a highly ranked IU squad stormed into the Bryce Jordan Center against a seemingly overmatched Penn State team and left with a narrow 88-82 victory against a team IU would later dominate in home and neutral floor contests.

New commitments bump 2013 recruiting class to 19

With the three decisions, 14 of IU's 19 recruits are now from outside of the state. As of Sunday evening, the Hoosiers’ recruiting class ranks No. 43 in the Rivals.com team rankings and could rise given more commitments.

Lady Hoosiers prepare for Northwestern

Last season’s Hoosiers finished  with just six wins. At 14-16 overall and 4-13 in conference, the 11th place Wildcats had only IU between them and last place. Fast forward to this season, and the picture looks a little different.
