Volleyball team improves with new swing offense

·

Sophomore outside hitter Hillary Toivonen tried to explain the volleyball team's new "swing" offense, but she kept laughing and shaking her head. "It's so confusing," she said. Men's soccer takes on Louisville

·

Coach Jerry Yeagley doesn't plan on letting his men's soccer team make the same mistake twice. IU defenders lost the ball to opposing strikers and forwards couldn't get the ball past the faster, stronger opposing defenders in a 4-1 loss to Creighton last Friday.

Injuries plague women's soccer team

·

As the women's soccer season began, coach Joe Kelley was pleased with his team's depth. For Kelley, it was one of the team's three largest assets going into this season. Three weeks later, Kelley might be biting his tongue. The team, once filled with potential starters, is now frail and thin after a host of injuries has depleted the team's midfield and front. In all, four potential starters have been put on the bench for part or all of the season, and another is playing through an ailment.

IU gears up for rival

·

The Bourbon Barrel doesn't exist anymore, but that doesn't mean the IU/Kentucky football game doesn't mean anything. Travel to parts of Southern Indiana or almost anywhere in Kentucky and the annual border war between the Hoosiers and Wildcats is a topic of conversation. "When you go down to Southern Indiana, Louisville, Owensboro, Evansville, that game is the number one thing that they talk about when I come down to the golf outings and speak," coach Cam Cameron said. "They are pointing towards the Kentucky game, but it is important to us all."
