IU splits games, ends losing streak

The IU softball team came into Wednesday's double-header with an 0-10 Big Ten record and an eight-game skid with six of those games going by two runs or less. Luckily for the Hoosiers, the Kentucky Wildcats came into Bloomington with an eight-game slide of their own. Each team was able to break both of their losing streaks Wednesday with Kentucky winning the first game 9-5, and IU taking the second contest 4-2. The second game had a very interesting ending.

Junior women's tennis player Linda Tran made it her goal before coming to college to play in the No. 1 spot at a Division I university by her junior year. Tran has accomplished that goal by starting in the No. 1 singles and doubles spots this year for the Hoosiers.

Pay back time for IU

The stage was set. Coach Bob Morgan stuck one win away from 1,000 with only the Wright State Raiders standing in the way. But on that March 26 afternoon, Wright State surprised the Hoosiers, capitalizing on IU's pitching and defensive mistakes to up-end IU 7-6. Today at 6:30 p.m. in Dayton, Ohio, IU (22-9, 7-5 Big Ten) will seek revenge over the Raiders (10-20) for costing Morgan his thousandth and for beating the Hoosiers on their home field.

Hoosiers go 3-1 in first round of post-season play

Although the No. 15 Hoosiers water polo team failed to notch a victory over top seed and rival No. 10 Michigan Saturday, the weekend was a success. In the championship game of the Collegiate Water Polo Associations' Southern Division the Hoosiers faced off against a familiar and unfriendly foe -- the Wolverines. IU found itself down 4-0 at halftime against Michigan and never recovered.

Tough seventh seals 2-2 split with Spartans

The Hoosier baseball team entered this weekend's four-game set with one goal in mind. They wanted to take at least three of four games from Michigan State and gain some ground in the Big Ten standings. Instead, IU split the home series with the Big Ten bottom-dwelling Spartans and are now tied with Ohio State for second in the conference with Illinois and Purdue looming just one game back. The Hoosiers now stand at 22-9 overall and 7-5 in the Big Ten, four games back of Big Ten leader Minnesota, which still owns an unblemished conference mark of 10-0.
