IU offense 'bad news' for the Bears

After the Hoosiers' loss Tuesday, senior third baseman Corby Heckman said the Hoosiers needed more at-bats before entering the Big Ten season. IU took those extra at-bats Wednesday afternoon and ended up with a season-high 24 runs after three hours and 26 minutes.

Hoosiers lose to Valparaiso despite 12 hits in home game

The Valparaiso baseball team committed 39 errors on the year going into Tuesday's game against the Hoosiers. Unfortunately for IU, the Crusaders left Sembower Field still with 39. IU was defeated Tuesday 12-6 in their first home game in 19 days. IU coach Bob Morgan said a lack of games played recently and poor execution contributed to the Hoosiers' loss.

UConn's Villanueva declares for NBA draft after 2 years

STORRS, Conn. -- Two years ago, Charlie Villanueva thought he was ready for the NBA. Now, he says he's sure. UConn's 6-foot-11, 240-pound sophomore forward said Tuesday he will skip his final two years of college eligibility to enter the NBA draft.

Kappa, Teter battle it out at ITTs after last year's dominance by both teams

Two weeks before last year's photo finish in the women's Little 500, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Teter held a preview in the Individual Time Trials. Kappa placed four riders in the top 15 while Teter placed two, the top two spots. Today, five of those seven top finishers will return to the track for the 2005 ITTs. And just to make things a little more interesting, two heats will feature a rider from each team.

Soon after the IU Equestrian Club finished its meeting late Wednesday night, board members showed their battle wounds. The comparisons created quite the spectacle as pant legs were rolled up and bruises and abrasions shown from the last day's training. They were proud of their wounds, and some of the women were even still donning their riding boots.

Doctor filled Panthers' steroid prescriptions

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers Todd Sauerbrun and Jeff Mitchell and former player Todd Steussie had steroid prescriptions filled by a West Columbia, S.C., doctor now under investigation by federal authorities, according to "60 Minutes Wednesday" report.

Former ASU running back charged with murder of teammate

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Former Arizona State running back Loren Wade was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in the shooting of another former Sun Devils player. The 21-year-old Wade has been held without bond since Saturday, when he was arrested at the slaying site outside a Scottsdale nightspot. Witnesses say they saw him approach the car of Brandon Falkner, and exchange words with Falkner before a single gunshot rang out.

IU Water Ski club makes waves at Lake Lemon

Individual Time Trials test riders' personal strengths

With Qualifications out of the way and the field of 33 set, it's time for Little 500 riders to have some fun, beginning with the official start of the Spring Series Events -- Individual Time Trials. IU hopes to cruise past Crusaders

Hep calls out to students

Hoosiers snap 9-year skid against Purdue

It was a long time coming. The last time IU men's tennis beat Purdue: April 8, 1995. Ten years and 10 matches later, the Hoosiers regained victory over their in-state rival Saturday at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts, winning 5-2.

Kappa reigns in record time

Austin Regional: Michigan State 94, Kentucky 88 Michigan State overcame Patrick Sparks' 3-point prayer at the end of regulation and ousted Kentucky 94-88 in double overtime to win the Austin Regional and advance to the Final Four.
