IU volleyball goes 1-1 in conference matches

The IU volleyball team is now 3-3 in the Big Ten and 12-6 overall after splitting two conference matches this weekend. IU defeated Illinois on the road Friday night in a five-game thriller and lost to No. 9 Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., on Saturday night.

IU field hockey splits pair of weekend home games

After losing two of their last three games, the IU field hockey team had an opportunity to record two big wins this weekend in front of home fans at the IU Field Hockey Field. The Hoosiers were impressive in a 2-1 win over Miami University of Ohio on Friday, but fell to No. 9 Penn State 2-0 on Sunday.

Home atmosphere leads to wins for IU womens tennis

In their first home tournament of the year, the No. 24 IU women’s tennis team racked up wins on their home court. The team competed in the Hoosier Classic this weekend, where they won three singles flights out of a possible 10. Juniors Alba Berdala, Sigrid Fischer and Stephanie Heller all reached the singles finals and won the last match of their flights.

As the IU football team’s usual stars continued to fill up the stat sheet Saturday, the Hoosiers got a big hand from some unusual suspects on offense, defense and special teams.

Hoosiers take it to Gophers, win 40-20

Chants of “Terry Hoeppner” rained down from the few students remaining in the stands. Several IU football players triumphantly hoisted their crimson helmets to the sky, where they met the October afternoon sun. And for the first time since 1994, the IU football team was 5-1.

IU womens soccer heads to Michigan State this weekend

After playing to a 1-1 draw in two overtimes against Michigan last night, the IU women’s soccer team will play Michigan State at noon on Sunday. The Hoosiers got on the board first in the 24th minute as senior midfielder/forward Lindsay McCarthy blasted a shot into the Wolverine goal from 20 yards out.

After losing two of the last three games, including two tight Big Ten match-ups, IU field hockey coach Amy Robertson found herself searching for that extra something to help the team get back on track.

After defeating the University of Illinois at Chicago on Wednesday, the IU men’s soccer team will continue conference play on a three-game winning streak when they welcome Michigan State to Bill Armstrong Stadium on Saturday.

Not even Nostradamus could have predicted that sophomore defensive end Greg Middleton would be this good, this fast. During his freshman year, he played in only five games, making six total tackles.

IU tops UIC 1-0 for 3rd win in a row, 6th on the year

The last time IU and the University of Illinois-Chicago met on the pitch was 1977, when UIC was still considered a D-II school. Although none of the current Hoosier squad was alive to see that game, they were able to continue the winning tradition against the Flames in a 1-0 victory Wednesday night at Bill Armstrong Stadium. It was the third win in a row and sixth overall for IU this season.

Hoosiers take unbeaten streak on the road to Michigan

With a seven-game winning streak and a nine-game unbeaten streak on the line, the IU women’s soccer team will have targets on their backs as they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., today to face the Michigan Wolverines.

IU men’s soccer coach Mike Freitag said the reason the Hoosiers lost three games in a row earlier this season is because they were missing the hustle – they didn’t focus for 90 minutes.
