IU falls to No. 19 Michigan

·

When the IU water polo team hosted No. 19 Michigan two weeks ago the Hoosiers needed overtime to win. On Sunday in Ann Arbor, Mich., at the Western Division championship match the teams went into overtime again. But unlike two weeks ago, the game Saturday went to Michigan.

Sprint to the finish

·

Five teams. One lap. One trophy. After riding in a group five-strong for almost 90 laps, the Cutters, Phi Kappa Psi, Dodds House, the Black Key Bulls and Team Major Taylor had but one lap to determine who would come out on top.

The road was unkind to the IU men’s tennis team this weekend, who lost 7-0 to No. 17 Michigan and 4-3 to No. 41 Penn State. The losses marked the end of the regular season for the Hoosiers (14-11, 4-6), who finished the year 3-8 away from home and 1-4 in Big Ten road matches.

IU looks to secure NCAA tourney bid

·

With its NCAA tournament status uncertain, there is only one formula for the No. 64 IU men’s tennis team: win. The team’s ranking might turn out to be too low to earn a spot in the 64-team field.

IU to challenge Big Ten rivals at match

·

Tournament time is almost here, but first comes a pit stop. The IU women’s golf team will start postseason play soon, but first the Hoosiers have one more regular season task. On Saturday, they will compete in the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational at the newly renovated Scarlet Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio.

Women’s race features wealth of top teams

·

Some say Little 500 is all about strategy. But the women of Teter seem to have a pretty simple equation that serves as a team motto: “Ride fast, turn left.” And so long as they try their hardest, the No. 1 goal for the women is to have fun. “If our best means we are the best, that would be extra fun,” said junior Teter rider Sydney Hatten.

Men hope race will be closer than last year’s

·

Every rider in Saturday’s Little 500 wants what senior Dodds House rider Chris Chartier has: a championship ring. With the defending champion Alpha Tau Omega watching the race from the bleachers after failing to qualify, Dodds House is the most recent team in this year’s race to have won a championship. Dodds won the race in 2005.

Freshman Josh Phegley slides into second during an April 17 game against Indiana State. The Hoosiers face Ohio state in away games Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Hoosiers set to host Michigan in home finale

·

Sunday afternoon, seniors Laura McGaffigan and Cecile Perton will play their final match in Bloomington. The senior co-captains of the IU women’s tennis team have been staples in the team’s lineup since their freshman year, and their importance on and off the court has continued to grow.

‘Major’ differences exist among Little 500 riders

·

When senior Dylan Wickersham took his first diving class, he didn’t know it would lead him to major in underwater archaeology. He also didn’t know that his major, with a little business twist, would make him stick out from all the other hundreds of Little 500 riders in this year’s race.

Hoosiers set to take on Big Ten’s best, worst this weekend

·

The IU softball team will host Michigan and Michigan State this weekend at home before embarking on a monthlong road trip. The 2-7 record the Hoosiers have on the road, coupled with a 1-9 mark in the Big Ten, doesn’t bode well for the future of the IU season.
