Students for the Justice of Palestine held a protest march and candle light vigil Thursday in front of the Monroe County court house. The SJP held the march and ceremony in protest of the recent Israeli incursions into Palestinian territories and to end the violence and Israeli occupation. Amin Hussein a Palestinian from Al-bireh, a suburb of Ramallah, explained the importance of the protest.
African-American music is rich in tradition and culture. And Saturday, the African American Choral Ensemble will proudly bring such tradition and culture to light.
The No. 36 IU women's tennis team returns to Bloomington this weekend to take on Penn State and Ohio State. The Hoosiers face the Nittany Lions Saturday and the Buckeyes Sunday. Both matches are scheduled for 10 a.m. and will be held at the Indiana tennis complex.
Last weekend at the Indiana Invitational, the IU women's golf team lost a seven-stroke lead after the first two rounds and missed first place by two strokes. The week before, the team missed first by just three strokes at the Lady Seahawk Invitational, finishing third.
The IU men's tennis team gets healthier and healthier every day. In addition, the eight freshmen on the squad receive more experience through matches and practices, as the seniors look to finish their careers on a positive note.

Having split both of its doubleheaders this week, the IU softball team goes into this weekend's competition against Illinois and Purdue in search of its first win in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers head to Illinois (23-16, 3-5 Big Ten) tonight for a 6 p.m. game. IU (11-21-1, 0-8) and the Illini will also battle at noon Saturday in Champaign, Ill. The Hoosiers then travel to West Lafayette to take on rival Purdue (29-15, 0-6) in a doubleheader starting at noon Sunday.
Imagine this: You come home from your boyfriend's house Sunday evening and your roommates are in the kitchen eating dinner. Your plate is prepared and warming in the oven. You finish eating and try to help clear the table, but one of your roommates scolds, "Go do your homework!" As you head to your room, your roommates settle in front of the television. The "Lawrence Welk Show" theme music follows you up the stairs. This is my life.
When my mom turned 45, I told her she was halfway to 90. When she turned 48, I told her, "Nice job, you are halfway to 96." Today she turns 50, and I could be original and say, "Way to go, you're half a century old." Instead, I'm going to say, "Congratulations." The more I think about it, the more she should be praised for what she's been through in her 50 years.
Next year, IU students will once again face a tuition increase. It's easy to get caught up in finger-pointing about who is to blame for such increases. But this year, no such confusion is necessary. The fault lies in the lap of the Indiana General Assembly and Gov. Frank O'Bannon.
The IU Student Foundation is, once again, considering reversing a decision regarding the eligibility of men's Little 500 third-place qualifier Team Major Taylor. IUSF has failed to apply the rules fairly across the board for all teams.
The IU Police Department reported the following activity: April 5 • Nonstudent Andrew L. Deloney, 48, resident of Ralston Drive, was arrested at Tenth and Dunn streets for public intoxication. He was transported to Monroe County Jail. • Senior Brian J. Landrum, 22, resident of East 14th Street, was arrested and transported to Monroe County Jail after he vandalized a walkway light in Peoples' Park. Estimated damage is $200.
Susan Hamilton is a scholar. A senior and member of the Kelley School of Business Honors Program, Hamilton worked her way through the school's marketing program in three-and-a-half years, only dropping one class and maintaining above a 3.5 every semester. She seems to be an obvious candidate in any job search.
