Marshall and Meyer are still young, 18 and 19, but no longer new to IU -- at least not brand new. They still live in Wright and have made it through the first semester of dorm life. They are still best friends. They are still blond and still cute, though the onset of the Indiana winter has left them slightly less tan than the beginning of the school year found them. They are both still planning on being doctors and both still working hard to do well in their challenging first year of chemistry and calculus classes.

Fatal shooting in Gary high school parking lot

GARY, Ind. -- A former student walked up to a 10th-grader in a high school parking lot and shot him in the head Friday, killing him, authorities said. The 17-year-old suspected gunman was taken into custody. The shooting happened at 8:15 a.m. outside Lew Wallace High School, before school started. "The suspect walked up to the victim, put a gun to his head and shot him," Police Chief John Roby told CNN.

Flower shops are overrun with orders and candy stores stock up on those little pastel hearts, each engraved with their own hot pink message, urging the receiver to "be mine" or telling them that they are "hot stuff." INDIANAPOLIS -- Hoosiers for Higher Education visited the Statehouse in Indianapolis Wednesday to lobby legislators and to learn about legislation that will be affecting higher education. Due to the current recession there has been a shortfall in state revenue and cuts to the state budget. These cuts contribute to IU's financial constraints and pose the likelihood of tuition increases.

Sprinting through an airport to a catch a leaving flight is becoming a thing of the past. Potential flyers will have to endure a thorough inspection of bags, person, as well as ticketing information, leaving little time for passengers to dally around airports. With terrorists threats and airplane malfunctions unlikely, yet possible, consumers feel the sky is not the smart place to be. "I wish they'd check the plane twice," sophomore Angela Fonyuy said.

Six and a half years ago, when I entered an in-patient psychiatric hospital for the first time, my therapists gave me a warning. Most people out there in the world, they told me, aren't ready to discuss mental illness. It's taboo to many of them, something you just don't bring up in public. Be ready for that. At the time, I really didn't think much of that warning. I just wanted to get out of that hospital.

The trip to his cluttered office in Ballantine Hall 605 isn't a long one -- it's only six blocks. Even though Professor Remak is 85-years-old, he refuses to drive to campus.
