Science museum hosts juggling workshop

As the snow came down Saturday afternoon, a dozen people attended a juggling workshop at the WonderLab Museum of Heath, Science and Technology in Bloomington. The workshop was intended for participants to gain basic juggling skills and learn the physics of juggling.

Crossing international boundaries

Tired soldiers formed a distinct sight at Camp Atterbury’s Range 13, as part of the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency on Sunday. They marched for five hours in battle dress uniform and safety gear, carrying at least 15 pounds per person. The award is given out by the German armed forces to ROTC participants who had to complete a set of qualifications during the two-day competition.

Peanut butter recalled throughout state

Indiana has 13 confirmed cases of a salmonella outbreak associated with certain batches of Peter Pan-brand peanut butter and Wal-Mart’s Great Value house brand, state health officials said. State epidemiologists did not specify which counties have confirmed cases, “but they are spread across the state,” said Eric Deckers, spokesman for the Indiana State Department of Health.

The IU Student Association election commission on Sunday canceled the executive elections and named the Hoosier ticket the “executive group elect,” said Brad Allen, the IUSA election commissioner.

The faculty of IU-Purdue University at Indianapolis has voted overwhelmingly to approve an open letter to the IU board of trustees requesting the next University president treat IUPUI as an equal to IU-Bloomington.

Two car bombs exploded in an outdoor market in Baghdad on Sunday, killing at least 56 people and injuring scores in the deadliest attack since U.S. and Iraqi forces began a major security push around the capital last week.

IU hopes for successful follow-up to '06

The IU softball team begins its trek to what it hopes is a second-consecutive NCAA tournament bid when it kicks off the 2007 season at the Crowne Plaza Classic in Houston on Friday. The Hoosiers hope to build upon last year's historic campaign in which the Hoosiers earned their first appearance in the NCAA tournament in 10 years. Head coach Stacey Phillips said she wants the hunger from last year to remain but was quick to warn that this is a brand new year.
