Amanual K. Girma, a 25-year-old employee of the Wright Quad C-store, was arrested late Thursday on preliminary charges of dealing marijuana and cocaine from the campus C-store.

Many athletes dream about success at whatever they do. IU junior Elaine Harris said last week she was hoping to follow in former IU golfer Shannon Johnson’s footsteps. Chalk that up as a success. Seven days after scoring her first Big Ten golfer of the week honor, Harris scored her first career individual tournament title at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz.

2006 champ ATO fails to qualify for Little 500

Though the fields for the men’s and women’s Little 500 were set Saturday, the biggest story of the day was who didn’t make the race. Defending men’s champion Alpha Tau Omega failed to make the field for the 57th men’s Little 500 after faulting on all three qualification attempts.

The details of McRobbie’s contract were made public last week, complete with some changes from President Adam Herbert’s contract including a $40,000 pay increase (making his salary about average among similarly-sized schools) and basic annual reviews by the board of trustees.

An IU student was pepper-sprayed by Bloomington police after resisting arrest Sunday. Police were dispatched to the 400 block of East Third Street in response to a 911 call about 12:15 a.m., said Sgt. Jeff Canada, who read from a police report.

Smithsonian’s museums ‘drastically underfunded’

WASHINGTON – The Smithsonian Institution’s eight art museums are “drastically underfunded” and have “seldom lived up to their names,” according to an external review released Wednesday. The voluntary review by a panel of seven prominent museum directors gives recommendations to strengthen each museum and is similar to an external examination of the Smithsonian’s science programs in 2003. The review was adopted by the Smithsonian Board of Regents in January, though it was not released until Wednesday.

IU hosts IPFW for 3-game stretch

As March rolls to an end, the IU baseball team is beginning to pick up steam. The Hoosiers are riding a four-game win streak it will take into a three-game series against IPFW this weekend. IU will play an IPFW team that is only 4-16 on the year but has won their last two games, scoring a total of 20 runs in the two-game stretch.

In the months after the end to their regular season, the IU men’s soccer team has only seen familiar faces on the opposing team bench – their own. Cancer researchers get scholarship

With their research attempting to cure cancer and make advancements in the medical world, Huijun Wang and Xiao Dong have earned the American Chemical Society’s Division of Chemical Information-MDL Elsevier Scholarship, which will be awarded to them this weekend at the society’s national meeting.
